The transducer discs are our original series of pickups. These discs were selected from many candidates because they reproduced the sound of the instrument most accurately. Installation requires no alteration of the instrument aside from enlarging the endpin opening to accommodate a standard jack. The mounting putty allows for repositioning of the disc to fine tune the sweet spot before final placement.
The SBT04 sounds great on guitars, resonator guitars, bouzoukis, ouds, and most other folk instruments. The pickup mounts with putty, which allows for adjusting of placement to find the sweet spot.
The ST08 is our Sitar model, which is mounted externally and features a longer wire for greater ease and flexibility for seated players. This model is also used for Hammered Dulcimers, Harps, and Autoharps. It comes with mounting putty and jack.
The VT700/MT100XT disc is an externally mounted transducer for violin or mandolin. An appropriately sized Carpenter jack is presoldered to the disc. Mounting putty and adjustment key are included.
Our Feather Series is similar in function to our transducer disc, but made of a different material. The Feather Series models are made of thin transducer film which responds to the movement of the entire top, providing transparent reproduction of your instrument's natural sound. Installation of the Feather Series models requires no alteration of the instrument, aside of sizing the endpin opening to accommodate a standard jack. We leave the preamp choice to the individual taste of the musician.
The GF30 is appropriate for guitars of any body size, including archtops. The optimum mounting location is on the bridge plate, just in front of the pins, but this pickup is very forgiving as to placement; the element responds to the movement of the entire top, allowing for creative placement when there are space limitations.
The BF60 is for both five string banjos with resonator and open back banjos. One of the easiest installations, the pickup mounts on the underside of the head. The jack can be installed in the openings of the flange of resonator banjos. For open back banjos, there are several ways to mount the jack, which we are available to discuss with you when the order is placed.
The BRF50 is used in biscuit cone resonator guitars, mounts on the underside of the cone with onboard double sided tape, and comes presoldered to a #11 Switchcraft jack, which can be installed in the cutouts of the cover plate with no alteration of the instrument. If you have a wooden body biscuit resonator, we can attach an endpin jack to accommodate that type of installation as well.
This model has a slightly different profile than our guitar model, to fit the application needed for the size and voice of these instruments. The pickup mounts on the underside of the top or cone (resonator) with double sided tape, preapplled for ease of installation.
